Position Overview: We are currently seeking a Senior Tax Consultant to join a dynamic and expanding firm of accountants and business advisors. This role is based in Reading and offers a unique opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, from large corporations to smaller owner-managed businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate clients, acting as the primary contact and overseeing their corporation tax compliance cycle.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of corporation tax computations and returns, ensuring adherence to relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Support the Corporation Tax Manager in managing client engagements, maintaining effective communication, and meeting submission deadlines.
  • Conduct research on technical tax issues, identify potential risks, and propose suitable solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members to streamline workflows, gather necessary information for tax compliance, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for tax savings and efficiencies, including tax credits, reliefs, and incentives, and assist in their implementation.
  • Stay informed on changes in tax legislation and assess their implications for clients, communicating updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of tax compliance policies and procedures to ensure effective risk management.
  • Assist with various tax projects, such as restructuring initiatives and mergers, by providing analytical support to senior team members.
  • Build and nurture relationships with clients, understanding their business needs and delivering high-quality tax services.

Qualifications:

  • Newly qualified Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) and/or Chartered Accountant (ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS, CA) or equivalent international qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing corporation tax computations and returns for both single entities and groups of companies.
  • Familiarity with Tax Compliance for Groups of Companies.
  • Experience with Research & Development Tax Relief Claims.
  • Proficient in preparing Capital Allowances Reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build internal and external relationships and deliver quality client service.
  • Experience with tax software packages, preferably Digita (training will be provided).

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary ranging from £50,000 to £55,000, based on experience and qualifications.
  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing by one day for each year of service, up to a maximum of 30 days.
