Job Title: Engineering Manager

BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team in Barrow-in-Furness. As an Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the production of the safety Build Assurance Justification and ensuring that the platform is built to design intent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and ascertain the appropriateness of the Safety Argument and Safety Evidence provided by BAE.
  • Liaise with the Barrow Safety Assurance Manager on any concessions where the Platform build differs from design intent.
  • Act as the MOD technical liaison with Platform and Nuclear Propulsion build committees.
  • Provide the safety interface with the propulsion/reactor/ships/weapons Test Groups.

Requirements:

  • Strong stakeholder management skillsets and experiences with senior board levels.
  • Programme management experience.
  • Previous experience in build assurance or maritime platforms of complex systems.
  • Good experience of technical risk management/governance procedures.
  • Hold a degree within a STEM subject.

About the Role:

The Dreadnought Alliance is a collaboration between Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems (BAES), and the Ministry of Defence to deliver the 'Dreadnought Class SSBN' programme. The scope of the Dreadnought Programme is the delivery of four SSBNs to the Royal Navy to maintain Continuous At Sea Deterrence (CASD). This post is part of the Joint Design Authority within the Dreadnought Alliance, which is the Platform & Whole Boat Design Authority for Dreadnought, structured around the Alliance Project Team engineering team and BAES Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) team.
