About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Catering Assistant to join our team at The Farndon Unit, a purpose-built hospital providing services for women with mental health and personality disorder diagnoses.

As a Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our chefs to prepare meals, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and assisting with deliveries. You will have the opportunity to interact with our service users, staff, and visitors, providing excellent customer service and ensuring their needs are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist catering staff with meal preparation and cooking, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Serve food and beverages to service users, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain storage procedures and stock rotation to ensure efficient inventory management.
  • Ensure all areas, equipment, and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly, maintaining a high standard of hygiene.
  • Collaborate with the wider team, including dietitians, to ensure dietary and planned meals meet the needs of our service users.

Requirements

  • Relevant catering qualification (desirable)
  • Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP
  • Experience working in a similar role
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills
