The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality acute pediatric emergency services and outpatient care. Additionally, the consultant will provide leadership as the Consultant of the Week and participate in on-call duties encompassing both acute Pediatrics and Neonatology (level 2).

Key Responsibilities

We invite applications for a full-time, fixed-term contract for a Senior Pediatric Consultant to join our team of experienced pediatricians. The position will be based within our Pediatric Department.

Candidates should possess substantial experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology, with opportunities to cultivate expertise in other areas aligned with their clinical interests. There is also a potential pathway for those interested in child safeguarding to evolve into a named doctor role.

On-Call Duties

The on-call responsibilities associated with this position will be structured as 1 in 12, with diabetic on-call duties at a ratio of 1:7.

Job Responsibilities

Weekly Schedule :

Given the evolving nature of healthcare delivery, it is essential for all consultants to maintain a flexible approach to their working arrangements, which may involve innovative scheduling, including potential 7-day working in the future. The job plan will be subject to regular reviews following the initial appointment.

The job plan for a full-time role will encompass the following (provisional timetable):

  • Direct Clinical Care: Programmed Activities on average per week
  • Supporting Professional Activities: Programmed Activities on average per week

(This includes clinical activities, administrative tasks related to clinical work, and both predictable and unpredictable duties.)

Additional compensation for on-call duties will be determined once the job plan is finalized.
