About the Job

Amazon UK Services Ltd. is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to join our International Tax team in London, GBR.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving significant initiatives alongside international tax team members and business partners.

This position offers a high level of autonomy, requiring the applicant to exhibit strong collegiality while serving as a technical tax advisor and project supervisor in this engaging and challenging position.

The ideal candidate should have a background in delivering treasury-focused projects, showcasing a proactiveness and ability to progress projects despite uncertainties.

The successful candidate will be tasked with resolving obstacles and managing project scopes efficiently to deliver results on large and complex projects, all while earning trust across various functions and stakeholders with executive level visibility and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tax guidance and support Amazon's treasury group's initiatives, collaborating with the wider Amazon tax team to address cross tax considerations.
  • Conduct analyses on treasury matters such as currency considerations, hedging, debt issuances, cash management, treasury systems, and their implications on executing treasury initiatives.
  • Assist in identifying tax issues related to treasury projects and work towards resolving them, including financial instruments, cash pools, and funding strategies.
  • Collaborate with other support functions within Amazon to design and implement efficient liquidity management structures.
  • Contribute to international tax structuring initiatives pertaining to treasury support and liquidity management.
  • Evaluate business proposals to recommend optimal funding strategies.
  • Address local country tax reform considerations relevant to treasury support.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and memos that contain well-reasoned conclusions.
  • Communicate complex tax concepts effectively to non-tax professionals.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors and global tax department members.
  • Lead and manage projects effectively and efficiently.
  • Develop a deep understanding of business initiatives, past planning initiatives, and more.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in a large corporate environment and/or public accounting or a major law firm.
  • Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CA (Chartered Accountant) or equivalent, Masters in Tax or Masters of Law with tax specialization.
  • Understanding of international tax laws either in Europe or the US.
  • Prior experience with Treasury matters such as FX considerations, hedging, debt issuances, cash management, Treasury systems, and their implications.
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in leading innovative projects and teams.
  • Proficiency in policy and process enhancement.
  • Able to deliver results amidst limitations and uncertainties.
