Job Description

Elevation Recruitment Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to join a fast-paced manufacturing business in Sheffield. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading the Engineering Team in the introduction of new products, production support, and process development activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Manage and provide leadership to the Engineering Team, ensuring the successful introduction of new products and processes.
  • Resource Management: Manage engineering resources in line with demand, identifying the necessary resources, people, money, equipment, and specialist subcontractors required to meet departmental objectives.
  • Customer Liaison: Liaise with customers to understand their requirements, specifications, and deliverables, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
  • NPI Project Management: Deliver new product introductions into production on time and on cost, developing plans that consider risk and ensuring procedural documentation is up to date.
  • Team Meetings and Task Management: Hold regular team meetings, assign tasks and dates, and follow up regularly to ensure tasks are progressing to plan.
  • Stage Gate Review Process: Own the stage gate review process, ensuring procedural documentation is in place and up to date.
  • Commercial Support: Work with the commercial team to support quoting and understand the NPI pipeline.
  • Process Improvement: Monitor scrap and deliver appropriate improvements, ensuring the best manufacturing solution is provided.
  • Collaboration: Work with all other departments to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or recognized engineering apprenticeship.
  • Experience: Demonstrable experience in NPI project management and managing a diverse team from varying disciplines.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Very good working knowledge of manufacturing, ideally with cast or forge engineering experience.
  • Regulated Industry Experience: Experience of working within a highly regulated industry, such as medical, aerospace, or automotive.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate and coach a team using good leadership skills, taking a consultative approach and listening to the opinions of others.
  • IT Skills: Strong IT skills, particularly experience of Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • Organizational Skills: Organized and methodical approach to each task, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to make sound decisions based on available data using good problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to flex and adapt management style to operate at both a strategic and operational level as required.
