Job Overview

The Microbiology Division at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is collaborating with University Hospitals North Tees and Hartlepool to establish a unified service known as Tees Valley Pathology.

We invite applications from qualified and motivated HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists who possess the necessary experience, knowledge, and skills to join our scientific team. This role is integral to the delivery of services in Bacteriology and Virology as part of the Tees Valley Pathology Service.

Key Responsibilities

The position entails rotating through various sections within the department, providing candidates with extensive experience. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in meeting daily workload objectives, necessitating strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Under the guidance of the Microbiology Management, the post holder will execute routine operations within the Microbiology department, adhering to established methodologies and procedures.

Additionally, the role includes mentoring and developing Trainee Biomedical Scientists, Medical Laboratory Assistants, and other staff in accordance with departmental policies. The candidate is expected to demonstrate a significant degree of autonomy and the ability to work independently for extended periods.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • IBMS accredited degree
  • Completed Registration Portfolio
  • HCPC registration
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)
