Consultant Transplant Surgeon

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Consultant Transplant Surgeon to join our team at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. As a key member of our Nephrology and Transplant department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality kidney and pancreas transplant services to patients in South East Wales.
Main Responsibilities:- Develop and implement effective transplant programs, including recipient work-up, organ offer assessment, and peri-operative care.
- Perform complex transplant surgeries, including kidney and pancreas transplants, and manage post-operative care.
- Lead abdominal organ retrieval procedures and participate in the UK National Organ Retrieval Service.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to patients with chronic kidney disease.
- Contribute to the development of new services and programs, including robotic surgery and urological procedures in transplantation.
- On GMC Specialist Register for specialty or Specialty Registrar with CCT/CESR (Combined Programme) due within 6 months of interview date.
- Higher Degree: MD by research or MD.
- Significant experience in kidney and pancreas transplantation, including recipient work-up, organ offer assessment, and peri-operative care.
- Ability to lead abdominal organ retrieval procedures independently.
