Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Telematics Systems Engineer to join our team at First Bus. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of our telematics technology strategy.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of battery electric and fuel cell technology, as well as experience in managing engineering vehicle faults architecture and interfaces. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining our telemetry technology program, including the design of the telemetry dashboard and ongoing software maintenance schedules.

As a Telematics Systems Engineer, you will work closely with our Central Engineering teams, Local Business Units, and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of our UK Bus telemetry strategy program. You will be responsible for managing the Hitachi BCMS contract and related SLAs and KPIs, as well as controlling and reporting on risk management.

We are looking for a highly analytical and problem-solving individual who can identify trends and proactively address issues. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders on the wider First Bus program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the telemetry technology program, including the design of the telemetry dashboard and ongoing software maintenance schedules.
  • Manage the Hitachi BCMS contract and related SLAs and KPIs.
  • Control and report on risk management, ensuring stakeholder awareness with appropriate mitigations presented to support delivery of telemetry projects.
  • Provide direction to internal telemetry technology team, engineering data analysts, and IT team responsible for onboard retail, safety, and passenger solutions.
  • Ensure the necessary interfacing and reporting of telemetry and vehicle diagnostics data into the engineering maintenance solutions.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of battery electric and fuel cell technology.
  • Experience in managing engineering vehicle faults architecture and interfaces.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Highly competent at written and presentation skills on technically complex and high-profile projects.
