The Senior Speech and Language Therapist will be an integral member of a collaborative healthcare team at Mildmay Mission Hospital, dedicated to maintaining exceptional standards of care.
This role involves providing advanced specialist Speech Therapy services to clients.
The ideal candidate will oversee and mentor Speech and Language Therapy students, volunteers, and junior staff as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct specialized assessments, offer guidance, and implement treatment plans for individuals with communication and swallowing challenges.
Utilize expert knowledge to make informed clinical decisions.
Administer suitable interventions and assess their effectiveness.
Exhibit clinical efficacy through evidence-based methodologies.
Tailor practices to accommodate individual patient requirements, including cultural considerations.
Take responsibility for professional conduct and recognize the limits of practice.

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Speech and Language Therapist who values professional growth and prioritizes outstanding patient care.

Primary Duties
1. Core Responsibilities:
Perform specialized evaluations, provide recommendations, and deliver treatment for clients.
Apply specialized knowledge to make sound clinical judgments.
Implement appropriate interventions and assess their outcomes.
Demonstrate clinical effectiveness through evidence-based practices.
Adapt practices to meet the unique needs of patients and respect cultural differences.
Be accountable for professional actions and understand personal boundaries.
Adhere to departmental and national protocols as well as the professional code of conduct.
Reflect on patient communication and devise strategies to enhance effectiveness.
Provide professional advice within the clinical domain.
2. Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Responsibilities:
Participate in MDT meetings and assist in goal-setting.
Manage a caseload of patients and contribute to treatment planning.
Fulfill key worker responsibilities.
Gather accurate statistical data and document therapy sessions.
3. Service Development Duties:
Utilize rehabilitation and educational skills to instruct the community in therapeutic methods.
Collaborate with others to develop outcome measures for high-quality service delivery.
Monitor and enhance quality standards for Speech Therapy.
Identify opportunities for service innovation and enhancement.
4. Education and Research Responsibilities:
Facilitate training and educational initiatives.
Develop in-service training programs and supervise students.
Lead audits and research within the specialized area.
Stay informed about evidence-based best practices.
5. Personal Development:
Engage in ongoing personal development through training and reflective practice.
Maintain a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) portfolio.
Encourage colleagues to adhere to evidence-based practices.
Ensure proficiency in therapeutic manual handling techniques.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Recognized degree in Speech Therapy.
- HCPC registration.
- Experience at the master's level.
- Registered member of RCSLT.
- Membership in relevant Clinical Interest Groups.
Experience
Essential:
- A minimum of 6 years of post-registration experience.
- Proven experience in managing complex cases and manual handling.
- Participation in CPD with specialized courses.
- Experience in assessments, risk management, and training.
- Experience working within integrated health and social care teams.
