Position Summary:
The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving safety, health, and environmental initiatives within a dynamic manufacturing and engineering environment focused on Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Culture Transformation: Actively promote a culture of safety by demonstrating safe practices and providing constructive feedback to colleagues.
- Risk Management: Lead and participate in risk assessments, ensuring that appropriate control measures are implemented and regularly reviewed.
- Standards Development: Assist in the creation of compliant and practical safety, health, and environmental standards that align with legal and organizational requirements.
- Safety Management System: Support the enhancement of the company's safety management system.
- Improvement Activities: Ensure effective processes are established for managing improvement initiatives arising from risk assessments, incidents, and audits.
- Training and Development: Provide relevant information and coaching to teams, develop internal training materials, and coordinate external training efforts.
- Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits, ensuring that actions are assigned to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Performance Review Participation: Contribute to business performance review meetings, prioritizing safety, health, and environmental matters.
- Advisory Role: Offer knowledgeable guidance to management and staff regarding legal obligations and best practices, taking personal responsibility for implementing improvements.
Qualifications:
- Experience in health and safety within manufacturing and engineering sectors.
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
- Higher qualifications such as NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ, or NCRQ level 5+ are advantageous.
- Proven experience in conducting workplace audits and inspections, with a focus on accountability.
- Expertise in risk assessment processes, including reviewing existing controls and suggesting enhancements.
- Proficient in data management and reporting using Microsoft software.
- Experience in coaching personnel on safety, health, and environmental practices across various experience levels.
- Familiarity with writing and reviewing management system procedures in compliance with ISO or similar standards.
- IEMA qualification or experience in Environmental Management is a plus.
