About the Position
In the role of Environmental Sustainability Lead, you will spearhead and facilitate customer engagement initiatives focused on sustainability, ensuring alignment with the overarching global sustainability strategy and roadmaps of Professional Hygiene. Your collaboration with various sustainability roles within Professional Hygiene and the broader Essity sustainability functions will be crucial in leveraging initiatives and ensuring coherence across different categories and business units.
Reporting directly to the Senior Sustainability Manager, you will be integrated within the Product Management team. This position may require occasional travel, estimated at 10-20% annually.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance and implement operational methods and tools to bolster customer collaboration and proposals concerning sustainability issues. This includes managing tools for assessing product carbon footprints and other sustainability-related product information to satisfy customer demands.
- Coordinate and mentor a network of regional sustainability representatives within the Professional Hygiene sales and marketing division.
- Provide expert guidance during sustainability discussions with key customers.
- Contribute to the development of content for sustainability communications and events aimed at customers.
- Gather insights on regional and local sustainability requirements from regional representatives to assist in prioritizing activities.
- Lead training sessions and competency development initiatives for regional sustainability representatives.
Candidate Profile
To excel in this position, you should possess exceptional communication skills, enabling you to effectively share knowledge and information with colleagues while driving business outcomes within your domain. A customer-centric approach is essential, along with the ability to thrive in an international environment with stakeholders at various organizational levels. Given the independent nature of this role, a self-motivated individual with a strong internal drive is preferred.
- A University Degree or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a sustainability role, preferably with a focus on products and/or consultancy.
- Proficiency in sustainability communication, product sustainability evaluations, and corporate reporting frameworks, such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Familiarity with Science Based Targets and sustainable sourcing is advantageous.
- Experience in a matrix organizational structure is beneficial.
