Logistics Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Logistics Assistant to join our team at Reed Specialist Recruitment. As a Logistics Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our logistics processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service to our on-site customers, responding to their queries and resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Shipping and Transport: Prepare shipping and transport quotations, book dispatches with hauliers, forwarders, dispatch depots, and shipping lines, and create invoices, packing lists, and collection/dispatch notes.
  • Export Documentation: Create and manage export documentation, including customs forms and commercial invoices, to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Administrative Tasks: Enter bookings into our bespoke shipment software, manage specific projects, and expedite shipments, process supplier and customer invoices, and ensure costs are correct on the software.
  • Communication: Answer telephone calls, respond to emails, and deal with inter-company and external queries, escalating issues to the Manager as required.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge and Experience: Possess knowledge of shipping methods and terminology, with experience within a freight forwarding environment.
  • Technical Skills: Have intermediate experience of MS Office programs, with strong administration skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Soft Skills: Demonstrate excellent numeracy, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a strong teamwork ethic and ability to work independently when required.
