The Ophthalmic Staff Nurse will play a crucial role in supporting the management of the department, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality nursing care in alignment with the clinic's values and professional standards.
  • Conducting thorough assessments and evaluations of patient care.
  • Adhering to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) guidelines and the clinic's policies.
  • Participating in departmental meetings to foster effective communication among team members.
  • Understanding and managing departmental budgets to optimize resource utilization.
  • Flexibly assisting in various areas as staffing needs arise.
  • Engaging in staff training and mentorship programs.
  • Utilizing the clinic's computer systems competently.
  • Ensuring compliance with drug administration regulations and clinic protocols.
  • Maintaining effective communication with other departments to enhance patient care.
  • Taking ownership of individualized patient care as the designated nurse.
  • Ensuring accuracy and clarity in nursing documentation, while being mindful of legal implications.
  • Upholding confidentiality in accordance with data protection policies.
  • Promoting evidence-based practices, quality assurance, and clinical audits.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of two years of post-registration experience in an acute healthcare setting.
  • Experience in the admission, assessment, and discharge processes of patients.
  • Experience in assisting medical professionals with outpatient ophthalmic procedures.
  • Recent experience in ophthalmic nursing.
