Position Overview
HeathLodge Clinic is a distinguished Independent Imaging Centre dedicated to fostering a compassionate and supportive environment for all team members.
We are seeking to recruit a skilled MRI Technologist to join our dedicated team, who are committed to delivering a patient-focused service. This is a full-time position, with operational hours from Monday to Friday, typically concluding by 8pm, along with occasional Saturday shifts.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the MRI Technologist include conducting a variety of musculoskeletal, neurological, and dynamic imaging procedures. Adherence to the clinic's established protocols and safety measures is essential to ensure the well-being of patients, visitors, and non-MRI personnel. You will provide support and reassurance to patients throughout their visit to the clinic.
The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in MRI technology, exhibit meticulous attention to detail, and demonstrate a collaborative spirit. A comprehensive understanding of various imaging techniques and sequences is required. Proficiency in intravenous cannulation is preferred, ideally with relevant accreditation.

HeathLodge Clinic is recognized for its patient-centered approach in the field of medical imaging. Successful candidates will possess exceptional communication skills and an empathetic demeanor when interacting with patients. Our facility is particularly adept at accommodating patients with severe claustrophobia, ensuring they receive the necessary imaging services when other facilities may not be able to assist.
Our MRI department is equipped with two advanced 3T scanners, including a newly installed unit, alongside a Siemens Espree scanner that is scheduled for replacement. We also offer a range of cross-sectional imaging services, including X-Ray, Ultrasound, DEXA, and Fluoroscopy, as well as a Pain Management service for joint and spinal interventions.
Role Objectives
The MRI Technologist's role is integral to the HLC team, providing a professional, compassionate, and high-quality MRI imaging service to patients.
Core Duties
- Ensure MRI safety protocols are strictly followed to protect patients, visitors, and non-MRI staff within the controlled MRI environment.
- Conduct mandatory safety screenings for patients prior to their MRI procedures to evaluate their eligibility and secure informed consent.
- Perform necessary safety checks before administering contrast media or medications specific to MRI examinations, ensuring informed consent is obtained.
- Execute a variety of general and specialized MRI examinations in accordance with established imaging protocols.
- Provide both physical and emotional support to patients throughout their visit, reporting any safeguarding concerns as per clinic procedures.
- Maintain the safe operation of specialized imaging equipment, adhering to all local safety protocols and promptly reporting any equipment issues to senior staff.
- Administer contrast media and medications when authorized.
- Keep precise records of all activities in compliance with regulatory standards and clinic policies.
- Participate in the clinic's audit program, including imaging quality assurance tests and safety audits.
- Uphold professional standards in line with the conduct and ethics guidelines set forth by relevant regulatory bodies.
- Continuously update clinical knowledge and maintain a CPD portfolio to meet professional requirements.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by occasionally working across different functions as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in MRI technology, particularly with patients who have limited mobility.
- HCPC registration.
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Radiography.
- SOR IV cannulation certification.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in MRI is advantageous.
