About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Investigator to join our Initial Investigations Team at Sussex Police. As an Investigator, you will play a critical role in ensuring that crimes are thoroughly investigated and that victims receive the support they need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations into reported crimes, gathering evidence and identifying potential leads.
  • Work closely with victims and witnesses to gather information and provide support.
  • Collaborate with other teams and agencies to share intelligence and best practices.
  • Develop and implement effective investigation plans, ensuring that all relevant evidence is collected and analyzed.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including victims, witnesses, and colleagues, to ensure that everyone is informed and up-to-date on the investigation's progress.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple investigations simultaneously, ensuring that all cases are thoroughly investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest investigation techniques and best practices, attending training and development opportunities as needed.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in investigation and crime analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
  • Proficiency in using investigation software and systems, including NICHE and STORM.
  • Knowledge of police procedures and protocols, with a strong understanding of the importance of evidence-based decision-making.
