Join Our Team as a Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician

As our fleet continues to expand, we are seeking an additional Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician to become part of our team in Newcastle. Reporting directly to the Depot Manager, the Technician will be responsible for the upkeep, inspection, repair, and testing of the company's fleet of heavy goods vehicles, commercial transport, machinery, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, inspect, repair, and test GCU's vehicles, machinery, and equipment, including diagnosing faults.
- Conduct regular safety inspections on all heavy goods vehicles in accordance with DVSA inspection manual standards.
- Identify faults in complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Prepare and present vehicles for 6-weekly inspections and annual MOT assessments.
- Respond to breakdowns or accident-damaged vehicles to carry out necessary repairs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and Health and Safety protocols.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Time served (City and Guilds) or equivalent, preferably with an IRTEC Commercial Inspection Qualification.
- Possession of an HGV license category C at a minimum is desirable.
- Previous experience in a similar Technician role.
- Understanding of workshop health and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to utilize computer systems for compliance record maintenance.
