About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Innovation Engineer to join our team at Amazon UK Services Ltd. - A10. As a key member of our Innovation & Engineering team, you will be responsible for developing novel and process-centric material handling system concepts and solutions that exceed industry standards in terms of efficiency, waste reduction, and automation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop process-centric material handling system concepts and solutions that reflect Amazon's internal and external volume requirements.
  • Foster a design excellence approach that starts from business requirements and strives to achieve optimal costs for new infrastructure with zero process waste.
  • Work backwards from True North processes and available data to close the gaps from current to desired state.
  • Create Material Flow Diagrams and concepts and layouts using AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Drive design reviews with partners to share ideas and receive feedback.
  • Provide data-driven process and engineering-related advice to leadership through written narrative business documents.
  • Travel 25-50% of time across European Middle Mile Nodes and corporate offices.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any discipline), Operations, or a related field, and proven experience in the specialty.
  • Experience with automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems, including robotics and high-speed manufacturing.
  • Experience with process design based on Lean Principles.
  • Experience in Capital project management.
  • Experience with concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision making.
  • Experience must involve ownership/management of engineering design projects.
  • Experience using business/technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software.
  • Travel 25-50% of time across European Sort Center sites.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering (any discipline), 2-5 years Operations, or a related field.
