Simulator Test Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Simulator Test Engineer to join our Vehicle Performance team at Aston Martin F1 Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing Driver In the Loop Simulator (DILSim) sessions and analyzing test items to support car development, pre-event preparation, and driver training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute efficient simulator run programs to optimize test item analysis.
  • Coordinate driver activities to ensure seamless testing and data collection.
  • Schedule test items according to priority and racing event calendar to maximize efficiency.
  • Prepare car setups/configurations and collaborate with technical groups to ensure testing requirements are met.
  • Report findings post-session to technical groups in a clear and timely manner.
  • Contribute to DILSim program development between sessions by improving analysis tools and productivity.

Requirements:

  • Trackside race/performance engineering experience, including driver interaction.
  • Excellent degree in Engineering, Physics, or Data Science related discipline.
  • Ability to create efficient session run plans, focusing on key deliverables.
  • Strong problem-solving, mathematical, and analytical skills.
  • Capacity to report complex technical information concisely to tight deadlines.
  • Experience with data analysis tools and awareness of statistical relevance.

Desirable Skills:

  • Development and use of empirical and physical tyre models.
  • Knowledge of sports psychology.
  • Model correlation techniques.
  • Atlas, SystemMonitor/TAG SECU.
  • Matlab, C#, Python, HTML, VBA.
