About the Role
As a Group Financial Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Thames Water's financial reporting. You will be responsible for preparing consolidated financial statements to the highest standards, adhering to FTSE 100 requirements and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare annual and interim consolidated financial statements for Thames Water's main trading entity (TWUL) and group entities, ensuring compliance with IFRS standards.
- Develop and implement best practices for external reporting, encompassing both statutory and regulatory frameworks.
- Stay abreast of new accounting pronouncements and corporate reporting developments, integrating them into Thames Water's financial reporting processes.
- Produce comprehensive accounting papers documenting key management judgments, including those related to leases and financial instruments.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the external audit team throughout the year, facilitating a smooth and efficient audit process.
- Contribute to various ad hoc projects, such as liquidations, new company setups, control reviews, and system reviews, as required by the business.
Your Skills and Experience
- Chartered accountant qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
- Strong technical accounting background with proven experience in external financial reporting under IFRS, including the preparation of consolidated accounts.
- Experience working within a large organization, ideally a FTSE 100 company or Big 6 Accounting Firm.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in using company IT systems, including SAP and HFM, is desirable.
