About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in a fast-paced theatre environment. You will be responsible for preparing, checking, and assembling equipment, ensuring a safe and efficient operating theatre experience for patients and staff. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to work effectively with colleagues, patients, and families, promoting a positive and respectful environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely identify, prepare, check, and assemble required equipment, adhering to manufacturer and Association of Anaesthetists guidelines.
  • Ensure the anaesthetic room is clean, tidy, and welcoming for patients, promoting a positive first impression.
  • Facilitate the delivery of safe surgery, aligning with national pathways such as NatSSIPs2 and GPAS.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to advocate for patients within the clinical setting, across all three stages of the patient's perioperative journey.
  • Ensure the theatre is closed down in a manner that leaves it stocked and ready for the next list/emergency case.
  • Develop a wider knowledge base by rotating through all surgical specialties, enhancing your skills and expertise.
  • Work with senior colleagues to collect and disseminate data based on local and national quality indicators.
Requirements
  • Current HCPC/NMC registration.
  • ODPs - Completion of HCPC-approved ODP programme.
  • Nurses - Recognised anaesthetic course.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work full shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
  • Good computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Ability to negotiate and problem-solve in a dynamic setting.
