Senior Credit Control Specialist

Overview:
The Senior Credit Control Specialist will operate autonomously to guarantee transactional excellence within the Credit Control department. This position necessitates a solid understanding and experience in Credit Control processes. The specialist will engage with a variety of external and internal stakeholders, including Clients, Customer Support, IT, Sales, Finance, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger Teams. The main objective is to enhance daily collection activities to meet collection efficiency, overdue percentages, Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), and bad debt targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing invoice collections: Prepare and send statements for current invoices, follow up on overdue invoices, and resolve any disputes with clients and the sales team.
- Conducting credit evaluations for new and existing clients, including regular reviews and necessary corrective measures.
- Evaluating and approving orders that are on hold.
- Entering invoices into external systems as required.
- Collaborating across departments with Financial Planning & Analysis, Sales, and Customer Support teams to address discrepancies in invoices related to pricing, short shipments, invalid purchase orders, billing method issues, and assisting the sales team in maximizing revenue while minimizing risk.
- Providing assistance with cash allocation as necessary.
- Performing additional credit control-related tasks as directed by management.
Authority:
The individual is authorized to grant credit and release orders and/or credit notes up to a maximum of 10,000 in local currency.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Credit Control and/or Accounts Receivable.
- Vocational training in Accounting/Finance with local qualifications, including proficiency in English and Mathematics.
- Ability to drive significant achievements in credit control objectives amidst changing economic conditions.
- Strong relationship management skills, both internally and externally.
- Excellent administrative capabilities.
- Familiarity with EDI and its implications for collections.
- Proficiency in the regional language.
- Experience with accounting software; skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel are essential.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, as data entry is a critical aspect of the role.
- Competent in utilizing Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Additional certifications in credit management or accounting.
