Job Summary

The Worcester Polytechnic Institute is seeking a part-time adjunct faculty member to teach Philosophy and Religion courses. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Philosophy and Religion and the ability to teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Philosophy and Religion courses, including introductory, intermediate, and advanced topics
  • Develop and implement course syllabi and lesson plans
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development

Requirements

  • PhD in Philosophy or Religious Studies, or ABD with a strong background in Philosophy and Religion
  • Teaching experience in Philosophy and Religion, with a focus on introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses
  • Ability to teach a diverse range of students and adapt to different learning styles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in a higher education setting
  • Knowledge of social justice and environmental philosophy, underrepresented philosophical and religious traditions, and studies of science, technology, and ethics
  • Ability to teach courses in bioethics, philosophy of science, epistemology, non-Western philosophies and religions, and critical race theory
