About the Role
St Clare Hospice is seeking a skilled and reliable Van Driver to join our team. As a Van Driver, you will play a crucial role in supporting the achievement of our sales targets by delivering and collecting goods to and from our shops and distribution centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the company van to deliver and collect goods to and from our shops and distribution centre.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of goods from the van.
- Ensure that all goods are properly secured and protected during transit.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly vehicle safety checks and report any faults or malfunctions to the management team.
- Supervise volunteers and assist in their training to ensure safe working practices.
- Ensure that all Health and Safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Drive in a safe and considerate manner at all times, adhering to statutory speed limits.
- Be responsible for the internal and external cleanliness of the company vehicle.
Requirements
- One year of experience in a customer-facing environment.
- Current full clean driving license.
- Experience of driving panel vans or minibuses.
- Minimum age of 25 years (insurance requirement).
- Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with the public and build effective working relationships with volunteers.
- Team player with the ability to work as part of a small and wider team.
- Awareness of Health and Safety in the warehouse/retail environment and resale of goods.
- Able to keep calm and work accurately under pressure.
- Positive, self-motivated, and committed to achieving results.

We are an independent charity, relying on donations and voluntary funding to meet the costs of our services. With limited NHS funding, we need to raise more than 70% of our annual costs to provide our vital services.
