Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Academic Support Specialist to join our team at Veritas Education Recruitment Ltd. The successful candidate will work in a co-educational secondary school in Hounslow, providing EAL support to students in Key Stage 3 and 4.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work under the guidance of the EAL teacher to provide academic support to students who require English language assistance.
  2. Conduct initial language ability assessments to identify students' needs and develop targeted support plans.
  3. Liaise with colleagues across the school to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  4. Deliver interventions for small EAL groups and one-to-one sessions to support students' language development.
  5. Assist with language translations and provide differentiated EAL resources to support students' learning.
  6. Encourage classroom participation and ensure students have access to the curriculum.
Requirements
  1. Recent degree in a relevant field, ideally English-related.
  2. Previous experience working with young people, EAL, or special educational needs.
  3. TEFL/CELTA certificate.
  4. Positive attitude towards working with young people and children.
  5. High levels of professionalism.
  6. Valid Enhanced Child DBS Check.
