About the Role

Gilson is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to join our team in a technical support role. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our customers by performing calibration, maintenance, and repair on their pipettes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit customer sites to perform calibration, maintenance, and repair on customer's pipettes
  • Utilize computer software to track all service activities, including creating work orders, logging pipettes by serial number, and generating customer-facing documentation
  • Carry out critical aspects of the service workflow, including unpacking pipettes, reviewing paperwork for accuracy, cleaning, evaluating, repairing, adjusting, and calibrating pipettes according to Gilson standards
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams of pipettes
  • Ensure conformance with established calibration and repair standards
  • Use small, handheld tools to perform maintenance, repair, adjustment, and calibration
  • Maintain calibration equipment through proper storage and handling and work with Service Supervisor to ensure equipment is up to date on calibration records
  • Communicate with customers regarding the status of their order/pipettes
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to work with pipettes and troubleshoot any potential issues effectively, to the satisfaction of the customer while maintaining Gilson's standards
  • Determine customer's service needs, coordinates accordingly
  • Work with area representatives to cultivate new and repeat service accounts
  • Work as part of a team to cover service appointments and on occasion travel outside of the designated territory
  • Work with local Area Manager(s) and Service Scheduler/Coordinator(s) to achieve territory targets

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage a busy schedule with relative independence
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to lift up to 25kg

Additional Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's licence and good driving record
  • Must speak English clearly and fluently
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Overnight travel may be required, up to 50%
  • Ability to acquire new skills and accommodate change in the workplace
