Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Cancer Biology

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. As a key member of our research group, you will contribute to our cutting-edge research on how oncogenic mutations colonize normal human tissues.
About the RoleYou will work at the forefront of experimental functional cellular genetics, leveraging a new 3D culture epithelial system and CRISPR-Cas9 technologies to study mutant cell competition and its influence by environmental factors. Your goal will be to identify interventions that can deplete mutant cells from normal tissues, reducing the risk of cancer development.
About UsThe Jones lab is a world-leading research group in studying oncogenic mutants and their spread through normal tissues in the earliest stages of cancer development. Our approach is multidisciplinary and collaborative, with a team of wet-lab experimental and data scientists working together to generate and analyze biological datasets. Our expertise in DNA sequencing, in vivo lineage tracing, advanced 3D cell cultures, and CRISPR-based gene editing positions us to develop novel interventions to prevent cancer.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you should have a PhD in cell biology, cancer, or functional genetics, with experience in cell culture techniques and CRISPR gene editing. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent organizational skills and strong verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for a collaborative team player who is passionate about using innovative technologies to achieve research goals and publish results.
Essential Technical Skills- PhD in relevant subject area, or on track to be awarded within 6 months of starting the role
