We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Headteacher to play a pivotal role in establishing our new Acorn School - Penge School in South East London. This institution will cater to 34 students aged 5-16 years with complex needs, focusing on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

Position Overview

The Deputy Headteacher will collaborate closely with the Head Teacher and leadership team to uphold high educational standards and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines. This role is essential in fostering a nurturing and effective learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safeguarding protocols as outlined by local authorities.
  • Engage in the assessment and evaluation of student referrals.
  • Oversee curriculum development and implementation across the school.
  • Lead initiatives to support positive behavior management.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, integrating educational and therapeutic approaches.
  • Monitor student progress and set achievable targets to facilitate individual success.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven experience in teaching students with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviors.
  • Experience in managing educational staff and resources effectively.
  • Strong financial management skills to ensure budget efficiency.
  • Possession of a relevant degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
