Senior Estimator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at CV Library. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the preparation of accurate and competitive bids, ensuring that all project costs are meticulously calculated and aligned with our strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documents to prepare comprehensive and differing forms of tenders, budgets, cost estimates, etc. for construction projects.
  2. Attend site visits and meetings with our team members and subsequent, ongoing appointments with specialist subcontractors and suppliers as necessary.
  3. Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify project details and resolve any discrepancies.
  4. Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications to determine material and labour costs for each project.
  5. Utilise estimating software and tools to generate detailed cost breakdowns and proposals.
  6. Obtain and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, negotiating pricing and terms to ensure competitive bids.
  7. Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and propose mitigation strategies.
  8. Manage, maintain and create new connections and relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and professional teams.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Surveying or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  2. Minimum of 10 years experience in construction estimating, preferably with a principal contractor.
  3. Proficiency in construction estimating software will be an advantage.
  4. Experienced in using Microsoft programs and software.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, design teams, clients, and subcontractors.
  6. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, problem solve and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment in order to meet challenging deadlines.
  7. Knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes and contracts (particularly the JCT Suite).
