We are looking for a skilled professional to join our public sector division as an Assistant Manager, responsible for VAT compliance and advisory services for a diverse range of public sector clients. Your primary duty will involve managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring their VAT matters are handled efficiently. You will provide essential support to Managers and Senior Managers in delivering client services and may engage in special assignments and advisory projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct ad-hoc audit and consultancy work.
- Oversee the daily delivery of audit and compliance services.
- Manage client accounts and foster strong relationships.
- Provide exceptional client service and maintain regular communication with client teams.
- Stay updated with the latest technical developments.
- Assist in budgeting and monitoring compliance fees.
- Collaborate with senior team members, including Partners and Directors, as necessary.
- Conduct appraisals and monitor staff performance.
- Offer on-the-job training and mentoring for junior staff, addressing technical and procedural queries.
- Ensure adherence to procedures in line with relevant guidance.
- Meet department billing and recovery targets.
- Encourage cross-referrals by being aware of other firm services.
- Support marketing and business development initiatives as required.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Relevant VAT experience in a professional or industry setting.
- Proficient VAT advisor capable of assisting with complex client issues.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Eager to expand technical knowledge and skills.
- Strong IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
- Beginning to gain experience in staff management and mentoring.
- Ability to motivate team members for optimal performance.
- Demonstrated capability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and colleagues.
- Experience in supervising others and delegating tasks.
- Proven experience in managing a small client portfolio.
