Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Automation & Service Engineer to join our team at Automation Experts. As a key member of our service department, you will be responsible for providing reactive site support to our customers, working on automation control applications, and ensuring the smooth operation of our engineered automation control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide reactive site support to customers on automation control applications, including PLC, VSD's, Robots network, and SCADA systems.
  • Workshop testing of engineered automation control systems to ensure they meet our high standards.
  • Investigate and repair components, including PLC, VSD's, Robots network, and SCADA systems.
  • Accurately mark up project schematics and documentation to ensure clarity and precision.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of bespoke training courses to meet customer requirements.
  • Support and train colleagues to ensure a high level of expertise within the team.
  • Assist other engineers with on-site commissioning and service of engineered automation control systems.
  • Provide technical support to sales teams, including site audits and quotations.
  • Contribute to the development of the service department to increase its capabilities and competitiveness within the market.

Requirements:

  • Essential knowledge and experience of variable speed and servo drives for at least one of the following: Siemens, ABB, Danfoss, Rockwell, or CT.
  • PLC experience for Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron products and software.
  • Robot experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to read electrical schematic diagrams and PLC software listings.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with customers, other contractors, and commissioning engineers.
  • Flexibility to travel and stay away from home for periods of time, with travel to customer sites across the UK and overseas.
  • A great team player with the ability to work independently.
