Waste Management Stream Supervisor

Position Overview:
We are looking for a part-time Waste Management Stream Supervisor to assist our facilities team in overseeing, coordinating, and auditing waste management processes at Thorlabs Ltd, ensuring adherence to legal regulations.

Working Schedule: PART TIME – 30 hours per week distributed over 4 to 5 days – onsite.

Key Qualifications:

· Proven experience in waste management coordination within a manufacturing setting, including handling hazardous materials.

· Recognized certification in waste management practices.

· Strong knowledge of health and safety protocols in a heavy goods manufacturing context.

· Familiarity with environmental regulations and the ability to apply them effectively.

· Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and manage projects.

· Forklift operation experience or willingness to undergo training.

Responsibilities:

· Ensure compliance with all relevant waste management legislation.

· Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, Internal Logistics, and Facilities teams to drive continuous improvement in waste processes.

· Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of waste management practices.

· Maintain necessary documentation and records.

· Oversee waste storage areas, ensuring they are properly maintained and labeled.

· Develop and implement training initiatives to enhance awareness of waste management protocols among staff.

· Work with key internal waste generators to identify and implement waste reduction strategies.

· Utilize Visual Management Systems to communicate the status of waste streams to stakeholders.

· Manage contractors as needed, ensuring cost-effectiveness and environmental sustainability.

· Collaborate with the Facilities Technician to oversee the handling of waste in production areas.

· Lead projects aimed at improving waste management practices to minimize environmental impact.
