Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate to join our team as a Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about psychology and wants to make a positive impact on students' lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers in delivering lessons, particularly in Psychology and related subjects, and provide additional support to students who may struggle with certain topics.
  • One-to-One and Group Interventions: Work with individual students or small groups to offer targeted assistance, helping them to develop study strategies, improve their understanding of psychological concepts, and prepare for exams.
  • Behavioral and Emotional Support: Use your knowledge of psychology to help identify students who may be facing emotional or behavioral challenges, and provide support and implement strategies to help them manage these issues.
  • Resource Development: Assist in creating and preparing educational materials, such as worksheets, presentations, and visual aids, that support the teaching of Psychology and other related subjects.
  • Student Mentorship: Act as a mentor to students, offering guidance and support in both academic and personal development, and encourage students to engage with their studies and explore their interest in psychology.
  • Classroom Management: Support the class teacher in maintaining order and promoting a positive, focused classroom atmosphere, and help manage student behavior and ensure that all students are able to participate effectively in lessons.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Help in assessing students' work, providing constructive feedback, and tracking their progress throughout the year, and use this information to inform future lesson planning and intervention strategies.
  • Professional Development: Take part in training opportunities and professional development sessions offered by the school, and learn from experienced educators and apply this knowledge to your role.
Requirements
  • A degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • A strong interest in applying psychological principles within an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with secondary school students.
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to working with young people, particularly those who may face challenges in their learning.
  • Experience working with young people, either in an educational, mentoring, or support capacity, is desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of students.
