Job Summary

The Arboricultural Chargehand will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating tree maintenance tasks, including felling, pruning, and planting, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor contractors performing tree maintenance tasks
• Assist in the organization of tree planting schemes and provide professional advice to other Directorates within the Authority
• Provide guidance on the formulation of tree preservation orders (TPOS) and works on protected trees
• Conduct tree surveys and inspections, and maintain knowledge of arboricultural best practice
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure effective tree management and maintenance

Requirements

• Relevant National Proficiency Tests Council certificates of competence
• Adequate experience in the arboricultural industry, including tree surveys and inspections
• Good knowledge of arboricultural best practice and relevant legislation
• Ability to work effectively in a frontline/community-based role, with flexibility to work outside normal working hours
