Position: Waste Management Chemist

Location: Wales, Gwent

Compensation Package
  • Annual salary of £25,000

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections, analyses, and routing for incoming waste materials.
  • Prepare and arrange waste for outgoing shipments, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Maintain exemplary housekeeping standards throughout the Gwent Waste Transfer Station.
  • Manage and store stock in accordance with legal requirements, guidelines, and local protocols at all facilities.
  • Collaborate with customer service and technical assessment teams to address issues such as non-compliance.
  • Identify the most suitable disposal methods to maximize profitability.
  • Support the site management team in adhering to the company's health and safety policies and operational systems.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with established systems and procedures.
  • Provide coverage for the Waste Transfer Station Manager during periods of absence or as needed.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the Waste Transfer Station Manager.
Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:
  • A scientific or environmental qualification at HNC level or higher.
  • Possession of or willingness to pursue a relevant level 4 Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC).
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and decisiveness.
  • A proactive approach with a focus on achieving results.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in a waste transfer station setting is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with SAP; training will be provided if necessary.
  • Forklift Truck (FLT) license.
