Casual Class 1 Driver Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Class 1 Driver to join our team at Gregory Distribution. As a Casual Class 1 Driver, you will be responsible for shunting and loading/unloading trailers, ensuring load security, and adhering to site safety policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shunting and loading/unloading of trailers
  • Shunting between two sites and moving trailers on and off loading bays
  • Moving trailers to be parked in allocated areas ready for delivery
  • Liaising with the Transport Office as to what vehicles are parked in the yard
  • Carry out local collections and deliveries as and when required
  • Logging of trailers in and out of the depot
  • Attending regular training sessions

Requirements

  • Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence
  • Hold a current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card
  • Previous experience of shunting is advantageous
  • Counterbalance licence is preferable, but not essential as full training can be given
  • Be passionate about providing excellent customer service
  • Working to deadlines
  • Confident, polite, and a team player
  • Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be fit, flexible, hardworking, and self-motivated
