Position Overview

Are you an experienced and driven nursing professional seeking to elevate your career? An exceptional opportunity has emerged within the leadership team of the Women and Children's Directorate for a Senior Nurse Quality Assurance Manager specializing in Neonates. This role is pivotal in guiding the specialized Neonatal team across the South West Wales region, following the retirement of the previous post holder. The successful candidate will exemplify strong clinical leadership and serve as a professional role model for nursing staff at various levels.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Service Delivery Manager for Neonates, while maintaining professional accountability to the Directorate Nurse, you will operate autonomously yet collaboratively with the Neonatal joint clinical leads. Your extensive expertise will be utilized to lead the operational team and strategically support the directorate leadership in delivering high-quality neonatal care. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, particularly in Maternity and Paediatrics, ensuring a cohesive approach between nursing and medical staff, as well as inter-departmental collaboration. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing training and educational needs within the service.
  • Facilitating the development and delivery of competency-based training at the point of care.
  • Leading initiatives for neonatal nursing practice development across the Women and Children's Directorate.
  • Prioritizing professional and service modernization efforts.
  • Enhancing the patient experience for all infants and their families or caregivers.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Registered on part 1 of the NMC register or as a registered midwife.
  • Demonstrated ongoing professional development within the specialty, linked to clinical competencies at the postgraduate diploma level.
  • Evidence of continuous management development.
  • Qualification in assessing and mentoring.
  • Completion of the NLS Course.

Desirable:

  • Master's degree in a healthcare-related field or a commitment to pursue one.
  • Evidence of participation in current leadership training or equivalent.
