Programme Overview

Mastek is set to deliver a high-profile programme for a central government department. The programme represents the next generation of the UK's biometric capability, replacing and integrating with legacy systems and other government departments.

Role Description

You will be part of a Mastek team in a multi-vendor project with a shared code base. As a Java full stack developer, you will be responsible for designing and developing cloud native applications using cutting-edge technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop cloud native applications using Java 8+ and Spring Boot.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Microservice architecture and build web services and APIs on REST.
  • Implement unit and integration tests, following TDD/BDD principles.
  • Experience with test frameworks like JUnit, Mockito, PowerMockito, and Wiremock.
  • Develop and maintain a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CICD) pipeline using Docker, Jenkins, and Kubernetes.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to the development of cloud native applications.
  • Develop a good understanding of JSON and XML.
  • Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) like PostgreSQL.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of Workflow/Business Process Management tools.
  • Experience with front-end technologies: HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, Mustache Templates.
  • Experience with Performance and Monitoring tools: JMeter, Kibana, Splunk, Dynatrace.
  • Experience writing Shell scripts.
  • Basic understanding of Python.
  • Good understanding of AWS services (EC2, ECS, EKS, API Gateway, and Serverless technologies).
  • Integration Engine tools: Apache Camel and ActiveMQ for messaging, web services, and distributed systems.
  • Public Sector domain experience is preferable.
