Accountant Assistant Job Description

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Accountant Assistant to join their team in Portsmouth. As an Accountant Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the finance team with various tasks, including weekly reconciliation, sales data collation, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile and collate sales data on a weekly basis, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Work closely with the management team to provide support for finance-related queries and to review financial performance on a monthly basis.
  • Own and manage quarterly BAU financial performance meetings with management, challenging performance and providing key action points for follow-up.
  • Responsible for the completion and production of investment reports to be sent to investment partners on a monthly basis.
  • Collaborate with administrators to ensure timely and accurate reconciliation, meeting payment deadlines.
  • Undertake various accounting tasks, including accounting for plan deficits and excesses.
  • Own the monthly Management Accounts Reporting function, ensuring timely and high-quality output.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, debtors reconciliation, and bad debt provision creation and posting.
  • Assist with credit control, providing evidence for debt write-offs and liaising with an external debt management company.
  • Support the Finance Manager with budget preparation and quarterly re-forecasting.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Processing Team Manager in reconciliation and resolution of queries.
  • Shared ownership of the cash management system closed-down procedure on a weekly basis and flash sales reporting.
Requirements:
  • Full right-to-work in the UK and prior experience in a similar role.
  • AAT Qualified or QBE.
  • Studying towards ACCA/CIMA (desirable).
  • Proficient in Excel and high IT literacy.
