Occupational Health Technician Role

The Occupational Health Service (OHS) is a multi-disciplinary organisation that provides a comprehensive occupational health service to the NICS departments and their agencies, and medical advisory services to several non-departmental public and arm's length bodies.

The Occupational Health Technician will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a range of occupational health services to clients. The team includes a senior occupational health technician, medical officers, occupational health nurse specialists, an occupational therapist (mental health) and business support staff.

The purpose of the post is to ensure that OHS is responsive to the existing and emerging healthcare needs of the NICS and client bodies. This will include professional advice on a wide range of workplace health related issues, health promotion, health protection programmes and input to policy and procedure development.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a range of stakeholders, including NICS departments and their agencies, to provide occupational health services that meet the needs of the workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide occupational health services to clients, including health assessments, health promotion and health protection programmes
  • Work with the multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement occupational health policies and procedures
  • Provide professional advice on workplace health related issues
  • Contribute to the development of health and safety policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications and experience in occupational health or a related field
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulations
