In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with the Head of Perfusion Services to enhance and expand the clinical offerings, optimize unit organization, and implement a managed Point of Care Testing initiative. Your leadership will ensure the Perfusion service operates smoothly, efficiently, and within budgetary constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of Perfusion services, supported by the broader HCA Perfusion team, with a primary focus on maintaining high standards of care.
- Establish and uphold systems that guarantee a safe and supportive environment for the physical and psychological welfare of staff, patients, and their families. Proactively identify clinical risks and take necessary actions in line with established risk management protocols.
- Play a leading role in the department's engagement with governance committees.
- Foster effective communication across the multi-disciplinary team and other departments.
- Represent the department in multidisciplinary team meetings, educational workshops, and departmental gatherings.
- Active participation in SCPS and CCPS activities is highly encouraged.
- Lead preparations for College Accreditation visits.
- Manage Blood Management Services and Coagulation Analysis to support evidence-based transfusion practices across various surgical specialties.
- Provide advanced cardiac support technology as required.
- Oversee the Perfusion budget in collaboration with the Head of Perfusion, while also contributing to the development of services within Cardiac Surgery and related specialties.
- Maintain accreditation as a Perfusionist with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain & Ireland.
- Possess a minimum of five years of relevant post-accreditation experience in complex cardiac surgical procedures.
