Role Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Agile Consultant to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. In this pivotal role, you will lead the adoption of Agile methodologies within a professional services environment, driving exceptional business outcomes. You will be an integral member of a high-performing team, promoting innovation, accountability, and ongoing enhancement of processes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Agile Coaching & Mentorship:

  • Deliver expert guidance on Agile principles and practices to achieve significant business results.
  • Provide mentorship to teams, Scrum Masters, and organizational leaders in Agile methodologies.
  • Enhance the capabilities of current and aspiring coaches across all organizational levels.
  • Exemplify servant leadership and embody behaviors consistent with Agile frameworks.
  • Assist teams and management in refining Agile processes and metrics, evaluating and mentoring existing Scrum teams.

- Facilitation & Leadership:

  • Champion the implementation of Agile practices, facilitating Scrum events, planning sessions, and iterative development cycles.
  • Encourage a collaborative work atmosphere by supporting team achievements and advocating for innovative work methods.
  • Introduce advanced Agile concepts to boost team agility and performance, ensuring consistent delivery of results.

- Team Development & Support:

  • Guide teams in backlog management, optimizing sprint planning, story sizing, and ensuring high-quality outputs.
  • Assist teams in comprehending Product Management lifecycles and team dynamics through Program Management.
  • Design and deliver tailored Agile training programs.
  • Establish and facilitate Agile collaborative groups, Communities of Practice, and Agile Working Groups.

- Operational Excellence:

  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of business operations, including planning, budgeting, and personnel management.
  • Clearly articulate enterprise-wide guidelines such as Definition of Done, Scrum Master, and Product Owner roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensure effective communication flow and scalable coaching practices across the organization.
  • Analyze team performance data to support informed decision-making and enhance team effectiveness.
  • Promote visibility and open communication within and between teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

- Driving Business Outcomes:

  • Provide expertise and guidance on the application of Agile values, principles, and practices as necessary.
  • Support teams in fostering accountability in managing their backlogs and delivering reliable results.

- Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Expose teams to the latest innovative ideas from the Agile community to enhance agility, leveraging Lean, Scrum, Kanban, and other Agile methodologies.
  • Guide teams towards more effective planning that minimizes carry-over from sprint to sprint and boosts morale, including story sizing and capacity allocation for ad-hoc work.

- Visibility & Transparency:

  • Encourage visibility and transparency within and across teams.
  • Analyze team performance metrics to assist teams in making informed business decisions that improve outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years (typically 7-10) of hands-on experience as a Scrum Master and Agile coach with Agile teams, particularly in professional services.
  • Certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent credentials. Advanced Agile certifications (e.g., IC-Agile Coaching, IC-ACC, or IC-ENT) are highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong facilitation abilities, deep knowledge of Scrum and Kanban, proficiency in Lean practices, and experience in coaching techniques (ICF certification is a plus).
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Lean Startup, Design Thinking, and team performance science. Understanding of Agile principles and practices and the ability to convey that understanding at all organizational levels.
  • Qualities: Excellent listening skills, humility, adaptability in Agile application, and effective facilitation.
  • Executive Presence: Exceptional communication, presentation, and training skills.
  • Consulting and facilitation skills in guiding non-technical teams in the adoption and enhancement of Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to connect theoretical concepts with practical examples from your experience.

This position is a contract-to-hire opportunity, beginning as a contract assignment with the potential for transition to a permanent role.
