About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Electronic Design Engineer to join our team at Innovate, a leading provider of technical and engineering expertise to the defence, marine, and space sectors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Hardware Team and overseeing the design, specification, and verification of digital and electronic hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Hardware Team and provide technical direction and leadership across a range of projects
  • Design, specify, and verify digital and electronic hardware, including producing simulations to estimate performance and identify risks
  • Test, verify, and re-develop hardware as necessary
  • Ensure designs are suitable for mass production and assist production with debugging and resolving electronic issues
  • Contribute to design reviews and interpret complex concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Requirements
  • A Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Experience with High Speed Digital Design or Analogue Circuits design
  • Able to develop large complex designs that require multi-layer PCBs
  • Understanding and working knowledge of electrical related Defence Standards (e.g. Def Stan)
  • Proficient user of AutoCAD Electrical or similar
  • Experience in reviewing electrical schematics in accordance with relevant standards and internal (CAD) processes
  • Ability to obtain UK Eyes Only security clearance
