Primary Responsibilities:

  • Must be a licensed healthcare practitioner
  • Should be at a suitable stage in training to embark on a PhD
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to a research-oriented career path

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicant Requirements:
  • Must exhibit ownership of the proposed project and ambition for a career in clinical academia
  • Should be at the right training stage to pursue a PhD with clear plans for completion
  • Must request a minimum of 24 months of full-time funding to complete the PhD
  • Intend to maintain clinical activity during or after the fellowship period
Additional Eligibility Information:
  • Consultation available for medical professionals regarding specialty training and qualifications
  • Guidelines for progression for General Practitioners (GPs)
  • Accreditation standards for clinical psychologists
  • Qualifications required for non-medical healthcare professionals
International Applications:

Applications from candidates of all nationalities are encouraged, provided that the fellowship is hosted by a UK-based research institution and that necessary regulatory body registration is fulfilled.

Non-Eligible Candidates:
  • Individuals who have applied for an MRC fellowship within the past year
  • Those who have previously submitted double applications for MRC fellowships
  • Applicants currently undergoing assessments for other UKRI fellowships
