Role Summary: As one of the largest collectors of online indirect taxes globally, including US sales taxes and EU value-added taxes, we aim to ensure that our technology and processes are adept at managing these responsibilities in a dynamic regulatory landscape.
Team Purpose: The Tax Engine Business Team plays a crucial role in ensuring that Amazon maintains the necessary technological infrastructure and operational processes to accurately calculate, collect, and invoice taxes. This is vital for supporting our growth and innovation while delivering exceptional services to millions of customers and Selling Partners worldwide.
Position Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with tax, business, and software teams to identify objectives and assess indirect tax implications. Define necessary technical, procedural, and operational modifications to meet these goals.
- Engage actively throughout project lifecycles to ensure compliance with requirements, including configuring tax rules, reviewing test cases, and troubleshooting issues.
- Gain insights into customer needs (including consumers, sellers, and tax authorities) to ensure our product development aligns with their expectations. Formulate long-term product strategies and roadmaps, prioritizing initiatives and addressing challenges as they arise.
- Provide expert guidance on indirect tax calculation and collection to various stakeholders, including legal teams, customer service, public policy groups, and industry associations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in managing product roadmaps and strategies.
- Demonstrated success in end-to-end product delivery and feature implementation.
- Background as a product manager or owner, particularly with technology products.
- Familiarity with product cycles exceeding six months.
- Experience in product or program management, marketing, business development, or technology.
Skills:
- Ability to influence senior leadership through data-driven insights.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of indirect taxes, including US sales taxes and EU value-added taxes, as well as tax invoicing and government integrations.
