OPERATIONAL RISK LEAD

At Weatherbys Banking Group, we prioritize adherence to all regulatory requirements through established processes and protocols. Effective risk management is integral to our operations, and we are seeking an Operational Risk Lead to enhance our team.

Your primary responsibility will be to instill, guide, and facilitate the advancement of our Risk framework within our first line of defense teams, which encompass Private Banking and Racing Banking.

YOUR ROLE WILL INCLUDE:

  • Collaborating across departments to foster a culture of continuous improvement while identifying and mitigating risks, supporting the entire risk lifecycle, and ensuring compliance within our banking operations.
  • Delivering support, education, and training to colleagues to enhance risk awareness and establish a clear 'risk appetite'.
  • Assisting in the formulation and implementation of a Control Assurance Testing Approach, critically evaluating outputs, and aiding business areas in identifying and assessing the effectiveness of key controls to mitigate risks.
  • Creating and presenting high-quality risk reports tailored for various audiences, offering senior management insights into the adequacy and effectiveness of non-financial risk management.
  • Staying informed about regulatory requirements and internal policies, ensuring their implementation and comprehension within the business area.
  • Facilitating essential risk and control processes, including Risk and Control Self-Assessment, Management of Issues and Incidents, Operational Loss Event reporting, Risk Management Action Plans, and Risk Governance and Reporting activities.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • A relevant professional Risk qualification (preferred).
  • Experience in a first line Risk & Control environment within a financial services or similar organization.
  • Proven leadership experience in an operational team, with the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment while prioritizing risk management and maintaining high operational standards.
  • Familiarity with core risk tools and processes, including risk and control assessments, controls assurance, risk event reporting, and risk reporting (KRIs), typically acquired through experience as an Operational Risk Manager.
  • Experience in overseeing, challenging, and advising on key operational risks, including Business Continuity Planning, Third Party Outsourcing, Change/Project, and IT risks.
  • Background in process review and enhancement within an operational context.
  • Experience in Retail or Private Banking is advantageous but not mandatory.
