About the Role:
Westlakes Recruit is seeking a Senior Estimator / Estimating Manager with a strong background in the Energy, Power, or Nuclear sectors. This position is available on a permanent basis across the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in:
1. Developing and maintaining a benchmarking database and reporting process to provide timely and precise insights for informed decision-making.
2. Delivering exceptional client service through rigorous quality assurance and consistent client engagement.
3. Representing the organization in client teams during commissioned roles.
4. Participating in customer meetings and negotiations, ensuring all necessary clarifications and presentations are prepared in advance.
Professional Expertise:
You will provide expert cost advice to various stakeholders, including Procurement Specialists, Cost and Contract Management Personnel, Estimators, and Project Controls teams. Your ability to work autonomously to generate estimates at different project stages using various measurement methods and estimating software will be essential.
What You Bring:
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- A solid understanding of industry benchmarks and best practices, along with measurement methods (e.g., RMM, MMHW).
- Quantity surveying skills and a comprehensive grasp of the construction industry.
- Insight into cost drivers that shape a project and the ability to translate engineering data into actionable cost insights.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to present cost-related work clearly and effectively.
- A robust network within the infrastructure sector.
- Proficiency in estimating software and the ability to create custom spreadsheets for cost monitoring and reporting. Familiarity with Power BI is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Recognized expertise in cost estimating.
Industry Experience:
Experience in the Nuclear, Traditional, or Renewable Energy Generation sectors is preferred, though insights from other industries are also welcome. A sound understanding of relevant AACE RP's and estimate classification systems is necessary, along with a degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience.
