About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optometrist to join our multidisciplinary team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As a Contact Lens and Low Vision Specialist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality ophthalmic care to patients in Suffolk and surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality clinical care to patients with complex contact lens and low vision needs.
  • Verify patient eligibility for certification of visual impairment and dispense simple and complex low vision aids.
  • Provide advice and recommendations on living with sight loss.
  • Support training and education within the department and the wider optometry community.
Person Specification

We are looking for an experienced Optometrist with significant post-registration experience working with all patients, including paediatric, elderly, and those with additional needs. You should have experience of managing your own patients with a degree of autonomy and be registered with the General Optical Council as a dispensing optician.

A postgraduate diploma in low vision or speciality registration as a contact lens optician is essential. Knowledge of complex contact lens fitting is desirable.
