Position Overview
East Cheshire NHS Trust is seeking a proactive and innovative Consultant in Gastroenterology to enhance our dedicated team. This role is integral to our commitment to providing exceptional healthcare services.
The position encompasses a full-time commitment, with the successful candidate expected to engage in a variety of clinical responsibilities, including endoscopy sessions and outpatient consultations, while also contributing to inpatient care for Gastroenterology cases.
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy.
- Engage in the provision of a comprehensive outpatient Gastroenterology service, ensuring effective patient management.
- Oversee the care of Gastroenterology inpatients, ensuring optimal treatment and recovery.
Key Duties:
- Actively participate in the advancement and management of the specialty, including the introduction of innovative services.
- Collaborate in Multidisciplinary Team Meetings to enhance patient care.
- Engage in medical audits to maintain high standards of clinical practice.
- Participate in the Trust's appraisal and professional development processes.
- Adhere to the Continuing Professional Development and revalidation requirements set forth by the Royal College of Physicians, with the Trust providing necessary support.
Work Schedule:
The role encompasses a full-time commitment, structured around clinical duties and responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities of the Role:
The Consultant in Gastroenterology will be responsible for the following:
- Supporting acute assessment and intermediate care wards as necessary.
- Providing care for inpatients within the Gastroenterology department.
- Participating in clinical audit programs to ensure effective quality assurance.
- Conducting endoscopy sessions as part of routine practice.
- Assisting in the development and enhancement of services.
- Attending management and governance meetings to contribute to departmental strategy.
- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure efficient management of inpatients, referrals, outpatient clinics, and investigative procedures.
- Contributing to the education and training of medical students, junior doctors, and allied health professionals.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified physician to assume a pivotal role within a well-established Gastroenterology team, with a focus on delivering high-quality endoscopic services.
