Job Overview

Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Service Engineer to provide exceptional support in the maintenance and repair of electrical and welding machinery. This role involves both in-house and on-site responsibilities, ensuring that equipment operates efficiently and effectively.

Work Schedule: Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.

Compensation: A monthly car allowance of £450 is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with the Company’s Safety, Health, and Environment Policy at all times.
  • Perform servicing and repairs on plant machinery and related products, whether in the workshop or at client locations.
  • Document repairs and complete necessary paperwork in line with the Company's Codes of Practice and its BS EN ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by responding promptly to service calls and executing high-quality repairs.
  • Conduct regular electrical inspections on calibration tools to ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of parts in the workshop to facilitate efficient repairs.
  • Participate in training sessions to remain informed about emerging technologies and methodologies.
  • Complete daily logs and submit them to the Branch Manager.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the workshop and company vehicle, reporting any damages to the line manager immediately.

Candidate Profile:

  • Possess a solid understanding of numeracy and literacy.
  • Exhibit good health and fitness, with particularly strong eyesight.
  • Demonstrate relevant work experience and knowledge in the field.
  • Have familiarity with machinery and tools, including their design, function, repair, and maintenance.
  • Understand circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic devices, and computer hardware/software, including applications and programming.
  • Show knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment design and production.
  • Exhibit strong customer service skills, including needs assessment and quality standards evaluation.
  • Utilize logic and reasoning to assess strengths and weaknesses of various solutions.
  • Possess problem-solving abilities to identify complex issues and evaluate potential solutions.
  • Effectively interpret work-related documents and communicate information clearly.
  • Conduct tests and inspections to assess quality and performance.
  • Maintain focus on tasks over extended periods without distraction.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to the operational needs of the organization.
  • Ensure a clean and orderly work environment, advising the Branch Manager of any necessary repairs.
  • Exhibit effective listening, speaking, and time management skills.
